Crestacia Part 2

Darkness began to fall on Croesus and Ellie as they finished up their catalogues on this planet. A proper survey using drones would follow but at long last actual data fromnthe ground had been gathered.

As they prepared to beam up Croesus could sense they were not alone.

" Ellie walk slowly over to me. I think we are being watched. Croesus to Wacamaw, lock onto our coordinates and beam us up."

Ellie did as she was asked moving closer to Croesus without making any moves that might be considered threatening.

[ Commander the out put of radio activity from that downed ship is interfering with....can't lock...] the voice of Nic Covenant replied with static. Looking to Lt Salem to try and get them back.

" Nic we have to go get them." Salem told Covenant.

In the back Blaine Rich was learning something he wished he didn't know as Dutchess approached him with news.

" Your Mr Hogus may have just gotten those people down there killed."

" How so?" Rich asked.

" He stole 2 eggs from a nest. What ever was trying to kill us was protecting a nest." Duchess told Blaine.

< Surface >
On the surface Ellie couldn’t help but wonder who, or what might be watching. “Maybe we should find some cover Commander?”

" There is the El Dorado. The survivors climbed a tree. Lead the way Lieutenant. " Croesus replied as Ellie lead the way.

As they walked they soon discovered what was stalking them as three humanoid like raptor creatures surrounded them.

" Damn their Gorn or something. Set phasers to heavy stun." Croesus warned.

Ellie did as she was instructed, she wasn’t going to argue with Croesus in this situation.

< WACAMAW >

The signal to the landing party was compromised by the downed ships radiation but the Mardroids still had an active signal so Lt Salem quickly accessed Sergeant Mardroids comm system.

" Commander this is Lieutenant Salem. You need to get a click away from that wreckage. Then we can beam you up." Salem hope they heard.

Croesus heard the voice but was unable to reply as they were surround by the three large beasts. But the Mardroids did react and started making noises and walking towards Croesus and Ellie.

“They’re reacting to the voices, there must be a reason why they want us alive or we’d be dead already” Ellie replied as she looked at Croesus.

[ Klingon...person I think I know what's going on. My Skipper accidentally found two eggs that might belong to those creatures.] Blaine Rich voice said from the Mardroid.

“Ahh hell” Ellie sighed as she looked at Croesus. “That explains it, they want their eggs back!”

" Fly the Wacamaw down here and we can return those eggs. Lock ontot he Mardroids frequency and land as close to us as you can." Croesus ordered.

[ We are on our way Commander.] Lt Covenant promised.


Croesus and Ellie stood between the 2 Mardroids which no had their phasers active. As they walked away from the ship the raptor creatures backed up roaring and kneeling. Suddenly all three decided they had waited long enough and thus attacked the walking Mardroids.

Croesus fired his phaser which was set to stun but two of the creatures were on his Mardroid. Wounding one it fell off but the other now stood atop the moving Mardroid.

Croesus looked toward Ellie and then ran to protect her from the third which had jumped down from the Corporal and licked its lips to feast, just as a old bag beamed down in front of her.

" That must be the eggs." Croesus said as the Wacamaw hovered above them .

Ellie didn’t wait a moment, picking up the bag she opened it and pulled out the eggs one by one gently settling them down on the floor. “This is what you wanted…now let us go!” She wasn’t even sure if the creatures understood what she was saying.

The one that was female quickly snatched one and the other was picked up by her older child. Leaving behind the largest male.

Sniffing and growling as it paced around them it looked down into Ellie's eyes and then winked followed by a very fast run off.

Just as the Wacamaw found a spot to land. Jumping out of the ship Lt Nic Covenant waved and yelled.

Croesus decided to leave the Mardroids to scan and observe the planet which availed the next ship the opportunity to upload their data.

Looking about the little ship Croesus was impressed it had went well.
" Okay folks we need to get home. We can use this slipstream drive again or take months at high warp. What say you all?" Croesus asked.

As far as John was concerned the question was a no brainer "I say we use slipstream and shorten the time it takes to get back to get to M-69" he replied not bashful about sharing his thoughts.

" Okay 1 for slipstream from Doctor John. I am for the slipstream myself so that's 2. " Croesus said.

Nic and Lt Salem added to that vote leaving only Duchess and Ellie to vote.

" I am not one to vote so I pass." Duchess added.

“If it gets me home to my family sooner then I vote yes” Ellie smiled warmly.

" Mr Covenant clear the planet and then prepare for slipstream drive."

" Yes sir."

Hobus sat alone upset his eggs had been found but Blaine Rich figured he would try such a thing as that what Hogus always did. Always look for a way to make a score. It was Hogus idea to secure the energy fragment which crippled the ElDorado after all.

Both said nothing to one another the rest of the trip as the little ship arched out of orbit and then vanished like the blinking of an eye.
