As the ship slipped back into normal space Sayvek scanned again and then reported.
" I am no longer scanning anything on short or long range sensors. I am perplexed. " Sayvek reported.

Captain O'Connell walked back to Command as requested "Commander report."

"Captain it would appear both Science and Tactical detected something unexplainable on their screens. We dropped out of slipstream to investigate further but Lieutenant Sayvek stated the phenomenon was no longer detectable" Devroe explained to her Captain.

Thinking a moment "Mr. Sayvek care to hypothesize" O'Connell inquired being quite curious.

" I think I saw this before. When we first used the slipstream drive. Like we were not alone." Sayvek replied.

Then SanChez spoke up "I detected it as well Captain."

"I suppose it's not unconceivable there may be sentient beings living in slipstream" Devroe added.

While talking to his Officers his comm went off "O'Connell, go ahead."

"Captain is there a problem I should be aware of Sir, I see we are no longer in slipstream" D'Nall inquired.

"No problem Lieutenant; Commander dropped out of slipstream to investigate something sensors had picked up" Jamie explained then continued "When we dropped slipstream whatever it was had disappeared. Let me ask were they picking up ghost images from the sensors."

"No they shouldn't have but we'll run a complete diagnostics on the sensors and the array when we return to M-69 Sir" then he paused "I have heard reports, well stories actually, of ships picking up strange readings when in slipstream but to my knowledge nothing was ever confirmed" D'Nall explained.

"Interesting Lieutenant. If you think of anything else please let me know" O'Connell ordered.

"As you with Captain, D'Nall out."

Turning to Sarissa "You didn't by any chance sense or pickup anything when the Officers discovered whatever it was" O'Connell inquired.

“Not that I recall Captain” Sarissa shook her head. “It was our first time in slipstream, it made me feel a little…strange, but that might change once I get used to it.”

As she spoke Sayvek remembered the feeling he had the first time the slipstream drive engaged.

"Well Commander since there seems to be nothing out there what say we go back into slipstream; we still have a lot of light years to cover'" O'Connell commented with a smirk.

"Sounds like a plan Captain" Devroe replied "Black alert" she called out.

"Mr. Hanes how much time is left to be able to use slipstream" O'Connell inquired wanting to get as close as possible to M-69 before they had to rely on warp.

Checking his screen " Two hours Captain."

"Let's get to it then....initiate the QSD Ensign" the Captain ordered as he settled back into his seat.

"Aye Sir, going to slipstream in 3..2...1...initiating" Hanes replied.

"Science, Tactical monitor your screens and let's see if that same anomaly resurfaces again" O'Connell ordered wondering if Angel might not be correct in her thinking.

Sayvek quickly began his scans and this time he immediately pinpointed the anomali.

" Captain it's back this time its gaining on us." Sayvek reported.

Standing from his seat and walking forward behind Helm "Lieutenant Sayvek can you give us a visual of whatever this phenomenon is" O'Connell inquired being very curious what this might be.

" Relaying sensor ghost from aft sensors." Sayvek replied as a quantum level being appear to over take the Peel and then run along side it. " It is now off our port and appears to be strengthening our outer shields."

Seeing the being along side the Peel Jamie couldn't help but comment "I'll be......it certainly doesn't mean us any harm or we'd know it by now" pausing a moment "Computer record images on the view screen for the next ten minutes."

"Recording view screen for the next ten minutes" the Computer replied as O'Connell went back to his seat "Counselor sensing anything?"

Sarissa was as shocked as everyone else. “I’m not sure what I’m sensing.” She gave Jamie a curious look.

Looking at the view screen Jamie had an idea. Tapping his comm "Lieutenant D'Nall please report to the Bridge; there's something you need to see" came the order.

"On my way Captain" D'Nall replied very curious why the Captain had summoned him to the Bridge.

The Lift doors swooshed open as D'Nall stepped onto the Bridge "You wanted to se......" then he stopped in mid sentence seeing the view screen as he walked closer standing beside O'Connell "I'll be....they do exist."

Looking at D'Nall "Care to share Lieutenant."

"Sorry Captain. Several months ago I heard a report from another Ship stating they encountered a luminous wavy being when traveling in Slipstream traveling alongside their Ship......I thought it was just someone's fantasy.....but obviously it was not" D'Nall explained as he paused a moment before continuing "If I remember correctly they called them the "Quantum Sirens."

"And they didn't harm or have any ill effects on the Ship" O'Connell inquired fascinated by the phenomenon.

"No Captain; on the contrary. As long as they were in slipstream these beings actually strengthened their shields further protecting the Crew." D'Nall commented still in awe of what he was seeing.

O'Connell thought a moment "There's an old Earth legend that states when ships were out to sea an animal known as Dolphins would swim along side them keeping dangerous other sea life from bothering them" he explained with a grin.

"Sounds like the same type of scenario to me" D'Nall replied with a slight chuckle "Thank you Captain for showing me this but I probably should get back to Engineering."

"You're welcome Lieutenant and yes by all means; you're dismissed" O'Connell commented as D'Nall turned and left the Bridge still in awe.

Then Helm called out "Captain we've hit our time in slipstream; should I drop out and go to warp" Ensign Hanes inquired.

"Yes please then proceed to warp eight when you can" the Captain ordered then went back to his seat.

"Dropping out of slipstream now" as you could feel the Ship staring to slow down....several minutes later "Going to warp eight now" then turning in his chair "Captain at warp eight we'll arrive back at M-69 in two days, Sir."

"Understood Lieutenant, steady as she goes" O'Connell ordered happy to be closer to home.
